Over the course of the past month, I’ve been working towards the opening of the Hypertension exhibition at Wayne State University. I was asked by co-curators Tom Pyrzewski and Beverly Fre$h to produce a new installation for the show.
On or around March 28th of this year, I set this as my daily schedule:
- Wake at 3:50am.
- Work until about 5pm.
- Return to the studio for about an hour and a half in the early evening.
- Asleep by 9:30pm.
I’m a morning person, and my schedule reflects this. My studio being situated in Cranbrook also necessitates a “counter-punchers” approach to production. In order to maximize productivity around here you really must work while others sleep. The panoramic photograph above is from a typical day late in the process. At the point this photo was taken, there were probably ten discreet components of the installation in process. My studio clearly reflects the chaos of the days leading up to the opening.
