Experimental
“Experimental Design” is a problematic term. This work does not conform to scientific method. Nor does this work involve testable hypotheses, nor peer review. This work draws upon design history, process and methodology but foregrounds the agency of the designer. So while “Experimental” may not be precise, it’s a more interesting term than “non-traditional,” or “unconventional.” This page contains selected examples of design work by Elliott Earls that might be considered experimental.
